Captain's Oven, a brick-oven Neapolitan-style pizza joint from Surrey, has just launched its second Metro Vancouver location, and this one is in the heart of downtown's Coal Harbour area.

The pizza spot has moved in at 1110 West Pender Street, which had previously been Melu juice bar.

Captain's Oven fires up pies on hand-stretched dough in its three-ton brick oven imported from Italy. While some pizza restaurants opt to zero in on a small selection of option, Captain's Oven is creating pizzas with just about anyone in mind, with a menu of over 40 kinds of pizza, from simple cheese to globally-influenced ingredient combos. They even make a chocolate dessert pizza.

The menu is split into sections - meat, vegetarian (with a vegan option), and "Pizzas Around the World." You can order up a pizza inspired by a classic Philly Cheesesteak sandwich or Japanese Chicken Teriyaki. A Portuguese pizza comes topped with mozzarella, ham, red onion, hearts of palm, green olives, and sliced boiled egg - for something a little different.

But if you want more traditional pizza, they also good old pepperoni, or the polarizing Hawaiian, along with Margherita, a "Meat Lovers," or pizza loaded with roasted veggies. For something truly indulgent, Captain's Oven makes a loaded seafood pizza: the "Fisherman's Catch" boasts a dozen jumbo prawns, crab, scallops, smoked salmon, garlic oil, capers, and green onion.

Additionally, Captain's Oven has salads, appetizers, and several sweet treats.

For a bit of a next-level pizza experience, for an extra charge, Captain's Oven will "stuff" your crust with Catupiry cheese, a Brazilian import requeijão cheese developed by an Italian.

The Vancouver Captain's Oven location is daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers take-out and delivery.
