A growing Canadian ice cream chain is continuing its roll west.
Rollz, which specializes in Thai rolled ice cream, has signs up at 2685 Main St. in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. The location has been vacant for several years.
The company was founded in Scarborough in 2017 and has opened up more than a dozen locations across Ontario and Alberta, along with shops in Halifax and Surrey. The Surrey location opened up at the end of 2024.
The rolled ice cream is created by freezing cream on a flat surface, mixing it, and then scraping it into a roll.
"Unlike traditional ice cream that’s churned and frozen in batches, rolled ice cream is made to order on a frozen metal plate chilled to -20 C," reads the Rollz Vancouver website. "We pour our liquid base onto the cold surface, add mix-ins, then chop, mix, spread, and roll it into beautiful spirals."
Along with their signature dessert, Rollz also offers milkshakes, faloodas, and cheesecake.
An opening date has not been announced, and job postings for the new shop still appear active.
