Vancouver all-veggie Vietnamese restaurant Do Chay is closing its original location in Yaletown. The restaurant on Kingsway will remain open.

After six years and two different concepts, this Vancouver restaurant is closing one of its locations.

On Friday (Nov. 4), the all-veggie Vietnamese restaurant, Do Chay, announced the closure of its Yaletown location.

"We'll greatly miss the neighbourhood and the many connections we've made," the restaurant writes in a social media post, thanking the community and staff for the support.

The Yaletown restaurant first opened as House Special but rebranded as the second outpost of Do Chay, their popular sibling concept, in 2020.

Do Chay is known for its modern Vietnamese dishes, with one key distinction - the menu is entirely vegetarian, with most plates and bowls fully plant-based.

Siblings Patrick and Victoria Do launched House Special in 2016, then followed it up with Do Chay on Kingsway in 2019. Patrick and Victoria oversee operations with an assist from their mother, Yen.

"Join us for a last hurrah in Yaletown," Do Chay adds, announcing that their final day open will be Nov. 9.

Do Chay's location on Kingsway will remain open for Vancouverites to enjoy their vegetarian Vietnamese fare.
