Don't want to cook your own Christmas dinner? These Vancouver restaurants are here to save the day

Here are some tantalizing options for ordering a holiday meal to-go to enjoy in your own home this Christmas. 

Home for the holidays this year? Yep, us too. You'll be dressed in your holiday finery - from the waist up, that is, since your loved ones won't be across the table in person, but rather on Zoom or Skype. So why bother doing the cooking yourself, too? For Christmas dinner this (strange, challenging) year, let one of the many Vancouver restaurants and caterers do the work. All you'll need to do is heat and serve and enjoy. 

From traditional spreads with turkey and trimmings or prime rib spreads, to some global, modern, and unique takes on festive feasts, here are some tantalizing options for ordering a holiday meal to-go to enjoy in your own home this Christmas. 

Traditional Christmas meals

Bacchus at the Wedgewood Hotel

The Bacchus Traditional Holiday Turkey Dinner features turkey marinated in winter herbs and spices and includes roasted turkey breasts, confit turkey leg, sage-scented rye and sourdough stuffing, garlic-whipped Yukon potatoes, roasted yams, Brussels sprouts with artisanal fall root vegetable medley, steamed broccoli and cauliflower and clove-infused cranberry sauce all finished with a rich hand-crafted gravy. Guests end their meal with a serving of Bacchus’ signature house-made Christmas Pudding. Served family-style, the Traditional Holiday Turkey Dinner is designed for two to six people at $79 per person and can be pre-ordered on the Wedgewood Hotel website until Dec. 17 for curbside pick-up on Dec. 24. Order deadline is Mon. Dec. 21.


Black+Blue is offering a special holiday take-home Christmas Eve Dinner package: Feast upon B+B’s famous slow roasted prime rib, paired with an elevated twist on their salads and sides, finished with a trio of decadent desserts. This is an epic spread for your hungry household to enjoy. Pre-order before 5 p.m on Dec. 22. 

Edge Catering

Edge’s fully cooked, re-heatable menu includes slow-roasted, herb brine and buttered turkey, port gravy, sourdough, apple & cranberry stuffing, Yukon gold buttermilk mashed potatoes, stuffed acorn squash, winter vegetables, cranberry & orange chutney, Choice of Edge signature "Sticky Toffee Pudding" or Pecan Tart. Serves 2 for $80, 6 for $240.Share the joy by providing a dinner for isolated loved ones, keeping them safe and well fed during the holidays, and feel great knowing your order is doing double-duty, as all holiday dinner orders will benefit Ronald McDonald’s House “Home for Dinner” Program.  Order online by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 for pickup Dec. 23 and 24.  Delivery can be arranged for orders over $200.  


Celebrate the night before Christmas with a hassle-free  Christmas Eve Dinner at Home ($350 / serves 4 to 6) courtesy of Glowbal's talented culinary team. Available for pick-up on Thursday, Dec. 24, the incredible buffet-style meal includes roasted butternut squash soup, wedge salad, slow-roasted half turkey, herb-crusted striploin, creamy garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetable sides, and a sweet selection of desserts such as truffles, macarons, Yule log cake, candy cane cheesecake pops and much more. As quantities are limited, pre-orders must be placed online by Dec. 22 at the latest.

Hart House

Guests who prefer staying at home, but love Hart House’s cuisine have the option of taking home a ‘meal kit’ from the Burnaby restaurant that feeds up to four people, pre-packaged and prepared: it only needs to be reheated before serving. The kit includes a winter green salad, Turkey Ballotine, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Chef Mike is adding a Mediterranean twist to his homemade stuffing and vegetables. A mixed berry Crumble completes the feast.

Homer Street Café

For $85, the three-course Homer for the Holidays menu boasts traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings and serves two generously, with plenty of leftovers for that essential Boxing Day loaded sandwich. Adding to your Christmas convenience, Beverage Director JS Dupuis has carefully curated four wine packages to pair with the Homer for the Holidays menu, with discounts of 40% off regular pricing. Homer for the Holidays and Wine Package orders may be secured by contacting the restaurant directly at 604-428-4299 or online via Tock.

Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

Notch8 Restaurant at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has brought back the Vancouver favourite Christmas Turkey Dinner To-Go this holiday season. In addition, the Notch8 culinary team introduces a delicious Christmas Prime Rib To-Go and savoury-meets-sweet Christmas Ham To-Go option. With prices starting at $199.00 CAD and available  for pick-up December 18 through December 25, this is the perfect way to enjoy a festive dinner with family and friends without all the fuss.

Provence Marinaside

Executive ‘Santa’ (er Chef) Jean Francis Quaglia and his team of Kitchen Elves at Provence in Yaletown, will come to the rescue of weary cooks by offering Turkey-To-Go; a traditional Christmas dinner complete with carved turkey breast, dark meat roulade, dressing, roasted vegetables, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, baguette and pumpkin pie for $36 (plus tax).  As Provence’s Christmas gift to patrons, Wine Director Joshua Carlson is adding in a trio of specially-priced wines to accompany the meal which can also be ordered online. Turkey –To-Go is available for pick only on Dec. 24 between noon and 5 p.m. Order must be placed in advance online no later than Dec. 22.  

Railtown Catering

Railtown Catering is preparing their legendary Turkey To-Go packages for the eighth year this holiday season. Whether it be Christmas Eve, Day or Boxing Day, the much-loved packages will be available in both the standard full-sized package and a new half package for smaller gatherings. Railtown Catering offers a delicious solution to making the most of precious time with loved ones during these strange times. These heat-and-serve packages will be available for pickup and delivery on December 23-26. 

Sequoia Company (Teahouse in Stanley Park, SandBar, Cardero's, Seasons in the Park)

Sequoia's pre-made Holiday Turkey Dinner ($79 for two) is available for pick-up on Dec. 24 at all four of its restaurant locations. Ready to heat and serve at home, the multi-course menu features butternut squash soup, oven-roasted white and dark turkey, mashed potatoes, classic stuffing, Brussel sprouts, glazed carrots and gravy. Each restaurant will be offering its own signature homemade dessert for inclusion in the take-home meal package. Pre-orders for Sequoia's Holiday Turkey Dinner can be placed online.

Water St. Cafe

This Gastown restaurant is doing a take-home holiday feast for two for $69, featuring a turkey duo main, Caesar salad, squash bisque, bread and butter, stuffing, yams, veggies and more. Order online.

Whiskey Six BBQ

East Van's Whiskey Six is taking a more traditional approach to holiday fare with to-go meals available for pre-order until Dec. 18. The menu features: Winter Vegetable Medley; Roasted Baby Potato; Roasted Honey Ham with gravy; Traditional Stuffing; and Bread & Butter Roll and is priced at $25 per person. Please contact for details.

And now for something a little different...

Gyoza Bar

Gyoza Bar’s Holiday Platter ($60) for four to six people is comfort on a plate, featuring spicy pork ribs, Marukatsu chicken katsu sandwich, Marukatsu ebi fry, char siu skewer, crispy vegetable gyoza, Asian slaw, and edamame. 


Commercial Drive's Havana can help you spice up the season with their special meal kits. Called Nochebuena - named for a Latin American traditional Christmas Eve feast - the meal kits are designed for two people to enjoy, and are packed with delicious eats like Lechon Asado (roasted pork), mashed sweet potato, Spanish yellow rice, Guiso de Berenjena (Eggplant + Tomato Stew), and pumpkin flan for dessert.  Priced at $60, partial proceeds of each meal kit will be donated to the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre to support their 2021 programming. Guests can also choose to add a Coquito cocktail pairing - a Puerto Rican “Eggnog” with Spiced Rum, Cream of Coconut, Condensed Milk, Cinnamon, Vanilla, and Egg - for an additional $25 per 1L bottle. All ingredients are organic and locally sourced from Havana’s preferred suppliers. These meal kits are available now but with limited supply. Pick up is for Dec. 23 and 24.

Heritage Asian Eatery

Heritage Asian Eatery is introducing their new Heritage Holiday Feasts available for pickup and delivery at their Broadway location throughout December. Featuring a generous array of creative Asian fare including Heritage Chicken, BBQ Pork, Truffle Siu Mai, Gai Lan, Crystal Scallop and Pea Tip Dumplings and more, each kit provides more than enough food to feed between two to six hungry adults with leftovers to spare. Both feasts are available to order online at and come in a feast for 2-4 ($69) and a feast for 4-6 ($139).

The Indian Pantry

The Indian Pantry Catering Christmas tasting menu is Goan-Portuguese inspired. They explain: "The Portuguese invaded Goa and brought their people, traditions, and cuisine to this bountiful coastline. Goa was influenced by the 451 years of Portuguese colonization. Our Christmas menu highlights some of the classic dishes influenced by Portuguese and Goan culture." Both a non-vegetarian menu ($85) and a Vegetarian menu ($70) feed two people. Pre-order for pick-up on Dec. 24. Five per cent of the profit from all Christmas tasting menus sold will be donated to KhalsaAid.


How about a show-stopping Thai meal for the holidays? The Black Pepper Crab from Maenam is the perfectly indulgent festive dinner to enjoy at home.  This dish comes highly recommended for a lead up to Christmas or New Year’s Eve. Note: this must be ordered a minimum of 48 hours in advance for takeout. 


Featuring stackable take-out bento boxes, Miku’s deluxe layered Holiday Bento ($130) is designed for two people to enjoy at home and features:

  • Zensai Bento - sashimi, crab claw, uzaku (unagi sunamono) with ikura, miso-cured duck breast, prawn cocktail, komochi konbu
  • Shusai Bento - AAA filet mignon, Atlantic lobster tail, grilled tako, roasted market vegetables
  • Signature Sushi Bento - Aburi Salmon and Ebi Oshi, Red Wave Roll, Miku Roll, hotate nigiri, toro nigiri, tai nigiri
  • Dessert Bento - Ginger cardamom cheesecake with mandarin foam, ginger vanilla namelaka, cherry gel, candied orange, crispy pearls

Minami’s limited-time, decadent Holiday Bento Box ($250) is created by Executive Chef Alan Ferrer with four to six people in mind and features five tiers of signature fare:

  • Carpaccio Tier - Aburi beef carpaccio 
  • Holiday Zensai Tier - ebi fritters, chicken nanban, seasonal goma-ae, and Aburi tako
  • Land Entree Tier - AAA butler steak and chicken ballotine, obie brazier with roasted market vegetables
  • Aburi Oshi and Roll Tier - Aburi Salmon, Ebi, and Saba Oshi; Red Wave Roll, Champagne Roll
  • Winter Desserts Tier - Green Tea Opera, Black Sesame Mochi Mousse, Passion Fruit Banana Tart, and Manjari Pot de Creme

Each bento tier can also be ordered a la carte.

The Yaletown restaurant also has a Minami Signature Bento ($75) available for one. This indulgent, multi-tiered bento box features Minami’s signature savoury appetizers like the Obie Brazier, flame-seared Aburi Sushi, and a choice between the AAA Butler Steak Don or Kaisen (Seafood) Don.


Nuba is giving holiday hosts more time to enjoy the holiday spirit by offering their popular Holiday Side Dish Package To-Go available from Dec. 22 to 24. Featuring an array of delicious heat-and-serve sides that offer the perfect accompaniment to any main course, each festive assortment includes Onion Walnut Bread Stuffing, Za’atar Brussels Sprouts, Pomegranate Braised Carrots, Mashed Parsnips, Pear and Feta Arugula Salad, Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Yam and Pumpkin. Packages feed four hungry adults for $75 and can be pre-ordered online for delivery or pickup from the Mount Pleasant location (146 East 3rd Ave) until December 21.

Street Auntie

Try new twists on authentic Chinese street food from newcomer Street Auntie Aperitivo House and its exclusive Holiday Celebration lunch and dinner holiday take-out boxes, available exclusively from Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. These holiday-inspired menus include delicacies like Three-Day Slow-Braised Abalone and Pork Belly along with signature Street Auntie star dishes like Yunnan Ghost Chicken, and Spicy Garlic Fried Soft Shell Crab, and more, and are available for $58 (lunch) and $98 (dinner) per person plus tax.
