The popular restaurant, which was levelled on April 3 by an early morning fire that likely started in the kitchen area of the building, is expected to be completed by May 2019.

“We’re really excited to start work on building Fergie’s v3.0,” said Jake Freese, co-owner of Fergie’s Cafe and Sunwolf Riverside Resort in the release. “The new building will be very different, but the spirit of Fergie’s will remain unchanged.”

The new restaurant will be more energy efficient, the release said.

The buildings at Sunwolf were built in the early 1900s. The new Fergie's will be more energy efficient, with "very progressive mechanical systems and a dowel laminated timber structure.”

“We can’t wait to see our community return to our door, and we are looking forward to giving back some of the love we have received over the last six months,” said Jess Freese, co-owner of Fergie’s Cafe and Sunwolf.

The Sunwolf Riverside Resort cabins will be open throughout the construction period.
