NYC's famous Halal Guys reveal first Vancouver restaurant location

Falafel, chicken and gyros in platters and wraps, yes!

It started with three immigrants from Egypt who launched a food biz in New York City back in 1990, and it's become a global restaurant sensation. Now The Halal Guys is coming to Vancouver, with the first franchise location just revealed.

The Halal Guys will open at 570 Robson St, moving into a space vacated by Yah Yah Ya Ramen

At The Halal Guys, food fans can expect to find falafel, chicken, and gyros available as sandwiches or platters.

Back in 1990, the founders' were slinging hot dogs from a cart, but soon switched it up to offer halal meals to better serve their frequent customers: Muslim taxi drivers. The brand took off, growing beyond carts to storefronts, and then expanding out of New York into franchised locations.

In the U.S. alone, The Halal Guys are in numerous states coast to coast. "We are one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in America, with more locations to come," notes the company's website. Additionally, The Halal Guys is in Canada (in Ontario) as well as South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the UK.

"Although our story begins in New York City, it has always been our dream to share The Halal Guys’ passion for American Halal Food with both the country and the world. Nowadays, you no longer need to live in NYC to experience our brand, and we couldn’t be more thankful."

An opening date for The Halal Guys in Vancouver has not yet been set. Follow @thehalalguys on Instagram for updates.
