There are plenty of spooky Halloween treats hiding around Vancouver in 2023, from cookie monsters and costumed cream puffs to chocolate pumpkins and limited-time donuts.

Here's something sweet to sink your fangs into!

While not everyone can go trick-or-treating for some sweet goodies on Halloween, there are plenty of spooky desserts hiding in bakeries and cafes around Vancouver that are worth seeking out.

Here's where you can find some hauntingly delicious treats in Vancouver for Halloween 2023.

Mello

Home to the best donuts in Canada, Mello has a limited-time batch of stuffed Halloween donuts. Choose from black cocoa brioche bursting with cookies and cream filling and Halloween candy or regular brioche stuffed with marshmallow and raspberry jam filling and dipped in chocolate. Not into donuts? There's a spooky red velvet cupcake topped with little ghosts and a chocolate tombstone.

Butter Baked Goods

Get into the spooky spirit with jack-o-lantern and tombstone sugar cookies, monster cupcakes, googly-eye cake pops, and Halloween-themed cakes.

Oh Sweet Day

These monster desserts might just be too cute to eat. While the bakery also makes a Scary Skull Cake and Spooky Fun Cake, it's the Monster Cake and Monster Cupcakes that have our attention. Just look at those googly eyes and funky, colourful frosting!

Fufu Pancake Cafe

Scary cookies n' cream souffle pancakes are a Halloween tradition at Fufu Pancake Cafe. This year, the cafe is changing up the Halloween recipe for the Ube-lieve In The Great Pumpkin Souffle Pancake. The dish features three stacked souffle pancakes, layers of house-made ube and kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) puree, and is topped with whipped cream, berries, strawberry powder, ghostly meringue decorations, and vanilla ice cream topped with sweet mochi. It's available for dine-in only.

Laduree

The French luxury patisserie released its limited-edition Halloween popcorn tart again this year (as well as the Halloween macaron box). The butter tartlet is filled with almond cream and macadamia nuts and layered with roasted praline and popcorn miso caramel, topped with whipped corn ganache and a delicate chocolate bat. The spooky treat is available until Oct. 31.

These donuts are dressing up as Sesame Street characters for Halloween. Have your pick between an Elmo donut, filled with chocolate and munching on a KitKat, or a Cookie Monster donut, filled with Oreo cream and eating a cookie.

Earnest Ice Cream

This literally chilling treat is a "frighteningly delicious" Halloween flavour too -- Ghost Chocolate. The local ice cream shop has partnered with East Van Roasters to use leftover cacao shells (the beans are sourced from an organic and fair trade co-op in Peru) to create a light, earthy, chocolate flavour. Use their daily flavour roster to see where it's scooping.

YVR Cookie

The makers of these decadent cookies have added three scarily sweet flavours to the menu. The Creepy Chocolate Cheesecake cookie is a chocolate cookie dough loaded with white chocolate chunks and milk chocolate chips and stuffed with red cheesecake frosting. The Franken Cookie is a bright green cookie loaded with M&M's, mini eggs, milk chocolate chunks, Oreo cookies, potato chips, and cheesecake Chipits. The Spooky Chocolate Caramilk is a chocolate cookie loaded with milk chocolate chunks and salted caramel chips and stuffed with Caramilk Bar and gooey caramel, and topped off with a spooky face.

These scary cookies are available until Nov. 1.
