It's Okay: Vacated East Vancouver restaurant space set to become new bar

The new spot describes itself as "a neighbourhood bar that’s open late."

A new bar concept called It's Okay is set to open by the end of 2022 at 2481 E Hastings St in Vancouver

Sometimes, when a restaurant closes up shop the space sits vacant for ages. And sometimes, it gets snapped up right away.

Looks like the latter is the case with 2481 E Hastings St, the former home of the rough-around-the-edges vegan spot Bad Apple, and before that, the cheeky and ultimately troubled What's Up? Hot Dog! spot. (To take it back a step further, WUHD took over what had long been a Chinese spot called Master Chef.)

Sliding in the vacated space will be something called It's Okay, which describes itself as "a neighbourhood bar that’s open late."

It's Okay is putting its planned opening date as "sometime in 2022," so hopefully folks can belly up to the bar before the clock winds down on this year.

The concept hasn't shared anything yet on its social media (and its website is parked), so we'll have to report back with more info when it becomes available. In the meantime, you can keep your eye on @itsokaybar on Instagram and the space itself in East Vancouver.
