Brunch is often the most revered part of any weekend (or if you're damn lucky, weekday). While there's a lot to be said for Vancouver's reliables in the category, it's always nice to shake up that AM routine.
Featuring glitter and gummy bears, a build-your-own Caesar bar, and summery French countryside vibes, there are a few new brunch options around town that are also serving up a side of fun.
Here are five new brunches to check out right now in Vancouver.
Belle Provence at Market by Jean-Georges
For their annual summertime patio brunch, Market by Jean-Georges has transformed their outdoor space into a scene from Provence, complete with colourful bougainvillea and tendrils of vines, as well as the scents of fresh lavender and rosemary. Guests can expect Provençale-inspired dishes on the new brunch and bar menus, live music on the weekend by local artist Omar Khan, and signature cocktails to say santé to summer. Brunch with live music is offered every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 am to 3 pm.
Address: 1115 Alberni Street, 3rd floor (at the Shangri-La Hotel)
This kitschy, cozy, come-as-you-are Main Street hang came back with a vengeance earlier this year, and has since put into gear a fun brunch that runs the gamut from Vegan Hash to a Fat Elvis (a grilled peanut butter, bacon, and banana sandwich topped with Frosted Flakes). Eggs Benny Burgers, waffles, Green Eggs & Ham (pesto hollandaise and prosciutto), Breakfast poutine and Bears Tubing (gummy bears floating on glittery doughnuts) are all sure to dazzle. Served 10 am to 3 pm weekends.
Address: 2301 Main Street
Hamburger Mary's has morphed into Mary's on Davie, a fresh West End diner that's serving brunch--with the expected sass. Look for a menu of modern classics, like Stuffed French Toast or Steak & Eggs here.
The casually upscale main restaurant at the Parq has recently added brunch service, and you can find a lot of the fare from their other menus, including sushi and raw bar selections, dim sum, and desserts alongside breakfast-y fare, including an Eggs Benny made with their signature Mac and Cheese waffles as the base, and a build-your-own Caesar bar. Whoa, baby!
Address: 39 Smithe Street
A new daytime-only spot from the team behind Birds & the Beets in Gastown, Hunnybee Bruncheonette has just opened and is all about those fresh eats. Look for dishes like fluffy ricotta pancakes topped with seasonal fruit, along with housemade breads, yogurt, and pickled stuff. Right now they're open 8 am to 3 pm daily.
