New Japanese restaurant moving into former home of longtime Vancouver cafe

Little has been revealed of the incoming restaurant

Gake Japanese Restaurant will be opening at 3605 W 4th Ave in Kitsilano, where Aphrodite's Organic Café was for 20 years.

There are signs that Kitsilano is getting a new Japanese restaurant.

As in literal signs.

At 3605 W 4th Ave. signs have been installed for Gake, a Japanese restaurant that appears to be specializing in sushi, according to a job posting from mid-May 2025.

The incoming restaurant expects to have a 75-seat dining room and a 25-seat patio.

Little has been shared of the incoming restaurant online. No website or social media appears to have been made public at the time of publication.

Previously, the space was the home to Aphrodite's Organic Cafe. The little cafe was on the corner of West Fourth and Dunbar Street for more than 20 years and was a sibling to the pie shop (also a café) which remains open.

So far, Gake has no social media or web presence, outside of job postings.
