New Pizza Hut opening in former Vancouver fitness studio

From burpees to belches.

A sign is up on West 2nd Avenue where a new Pizza Hut is coming in Vancouver's Olympic Village.

A new Pizza Hut will be joining the slice scene in Vancouver's Olympic Village.

Signs are up for the fast food franchise and a business license is pending for 171 W 2nd Ave. The storefront was recently a fitness studio called Infratrainer Canada.

The location is relatively distant from other pizza-specific restaurants as compared to other pizza-dense neighbourhoods in Vancouver; the closest pizza place is La Ruota on Cambie at West 7th Avenue (there's a cluster of shops near Cambie Street and Broadway), though the delivery-only Dijo's Pizza and Panzerotto and Super Baked Deep Dish are both nearby.

In general, the Mount Pleasant Industrial Area and Olympic Village are home to a mix of more upscale or down-market options for pizza, which are almost all located on Broadway, the southern edge of the area. The new Pizza Hut will be down the street from one of a few Nook restaurant locations in Vancouver, which serves house-made pasta and pizza.

It's been a few years since Vancouver saw a new Pizza Hut show up; the last was in 2019 when the location at 2625 E 49th opened. Currently, there are eight in the city.
