After just a couple of years in business Sumo Grill has permanently closed its East Vancouver location, and a new restaurant is moving in.
Hot Spot Buffet is opening up in late April 2025 at 3340 Kingsway (in unit 240), offering a new all-you-can-eat option for folks in Vancouver.
"Our buffet offers an extensive variety of fresh ingredients and delicious options at affordable prices. Choose from a wide selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, and more to grill or enjoy in your personal hot pot," reads the incoming restaurant's Yelp profile.
A sign on the door shows it'll be open daily for dinner service starting at 5 p.m. It'll be open for lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Sumo Grill was a short-lived Japanese BBQ spot in the mini-mall that includes London Drugs and a few other restaurants. It opened in September of 2023 and appears to have closed sometime in the early spring of 2025.
Before Sumo Grill, the location was the long-time home of Honolulu Cafe.
