On May 24, 2021, a devastating fire ripped through several businesses on New Westminster's Columbia Street, including the family-run Vietnamese restaurant Pho Pho You.

Now the restaurant's owners, the Le family, are prepping to open up anew, only this time they've changed the concept and the location: They're opening an Asian-fusion spot specializing in late-night eats on Main Street at King Edward in Vancouver.

Called District Eleven, the restaurant "run by cooks" is the next chapter for the business that had many loyal customers in its previous iteration as Pho Pho You in New West.

A GoFundMe campaign set up by Phillip Le, son of Pho Pho You owners Jack and Jade Le, brought in over $6,300 last spring, surpassing its goal of $5,000, sought to help the family get by until the fire case and insurance matters could be resolved.

Le updated the campaign in July to share the news of the rebrand and relocation, and that the forthcoming District Eleven would be open hopefully by the end of 2021.

Located at 4063 Main Street, in the former Chi House restaurant location, District Eleven is nearing opening, and is in the hiring stages. District Eleven's installation in the new space has been in the works for the past few months, though not many details are being shared about what we can expect when the doors are open.

District Eleven's Instagram account, @_districteleven, promises peeks at the "behind the scenes menu testing and renovations" to come. Stay tuned!
