For so many visitors to Paris, no trip is complete without a visit to a cafe that serves the French city's most Instagrammable hot chocolate.
You know the kind: Pour a thick, rich drinking chocolate into your cup and then spoon in whipped cream from a bowl to achieve the most perfect creamy, chocolatey treat.
Now you can have that same delectable experience in Vancouver, thanks to the new (and second) location of Beaucoup Bakery. The French-style bakeshop and café officially opens its doors at 602 Dunsmuir St. on Wednesday, May 31, welcoming all to its warm, cozy space at the base of Downtown Vancouver's St Regis Hotel.
Situated in a former Starbucks, the second Beaucoup Bakery marks an opportune time for the local business to do a little branding refresh (with Glasfurd & Walker) and expand its lineup of offerings, particularly in the lifestyle sector. Inside the Ste Marie Studio-designed interior, with soothing pale neutral tones, bakery-goers will find a line of Beaucoup-branded scented candles, as well as their housemade chocolate bars, packaged cookies and other treats, greeting cards, and more decor items.
“This project has been a long time coming, and we are so excited to finally open our doors at St. Regis Hotel and highlight our creations in downtown Vancouver,” explains pastry chef Betty Hung, who co-owners Beaucoup Bakery with her brother, Jacky Hung. “The space is beautiful, and we hope it’ll remind people a little bit of their travels to Europe, while they sip on coffee and snack on pastries.”
In addition to putting Parisian hot chocolate on the menu - which is served in rotating limited-run flavours - the new St Regis Beaucoup location has some other exclusives, like a line-up of oat tea lattes and is also a great spot to try a number of new menu items, like Pistachio Raspberry, Hazelnut Dulcey, Whiskey Chocolate, and Coconut Chocolate & Coffee cakes.
Beaucoup Bakery will also have sandwiches on the menu for lunch service soon.
With seating inside (and a unique window pass-through) counter, standing counters, and a side patio, visitors to Beaucoup can enjoy their cafe drinks and treats in the shop or take them to go.
