Summer is here, and there's no better time for enjoying a meal in the sunshine. This year, as take-out dining dominates the Vancouver restaurant scene thanks to COVID-19, our options have never been more bountiful for grabbing a meal to-go and enjoying it in the great outdoors.

There are a few places, though, that are curating some noteworthy bundles right now designed to be a complete picnic experience - it's just up to you to supply the blanket or tablecloth. Order up your next al fresco feast, and head to your favourite Vancouver park (or check out one you may not have visited before).

Ladurée

Nothing says summer in Paris like a gourmet picnic, and Vancouver's Ladurée has just launched a sumptuous set that will transport you to la belle France, tout suite. Choose from a ham and cheese or smoked salmon and cucumber sandwich on a plump, buttery croissant, paired with fresh fruit, and a mini set of Ladurée's signature macarons. And, mais oui, you can also order up other items to round out your Parisian picnic, too.

Move over sandwiches and deli salads: Chanco is serving up an instant fiesta with their authentic Mexican taco Picnic Kits. The kit is for four people and includes one pound of carnitas or veggies, sides, salsas and beans, guacamole, chips, and a Margarita or Michelada mix. The kit is available seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m. by phone or in store. Grab some beer or wine, too, when you're picking up.

Vancouver Aquarium

Situated in one of the city's best picnic spots, Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is giving Vancouverites and visitors another opportunity to support their endeavours and enjoy some sustainable eats. They've just debuted their 'Picnic in the Park' offering: a customizable four-course picnic menu featuring Ocean Wise-recommended seafood, compostable cutlery and packaging, and the option to upgrade to a beautiful souvenir wicker basket. And, no, you don't need to visit the Aquarium to purchase the picnic - order it up online and head out and enjoy the summer sun.

Dachi

East Vancouver's Dachi has got a line-up of perfect picnics. Working with some of their favourite local suppliers (i.e. Two Rivers Meats, Cropthorne Farm, Livia Bakery, and more), the kits come in three sizes: Snack Box ($39), Variety Box ($59), and Pandora's 'Picnic' Box ($89). Available from noon to 8:30 p.m. Friday to Monday; order ahead and pick up at the restaurant.
