You can up your pie game big time with these awesome baking classes

For those who are looking to seriously up their pie game, the classes offered by Vancouver's Pie Hole shop are a great way to go.

Pie is such a perfect food, because you can eat it as an appetizer or snack (hello, mini pocket pies!), a savoury main, and--of course--for dessert. For those who are looking to seriously up their pie game, the classes offered by Vancouver's Pie Hole shop are a great way to go.

Held at The Pie Hole's newer second location in Burnaby (on the New West border), the workshops are taught by Pie Hole founder Jenell Parsons.

All the pie workshops start with the buttery basics: The Pie Hole's signature Double Butter Crust recipe. In the super hands-on class you will work your own crust magic (and tone those biceps) and get your hands on the closely-guarded crust recipe you can take home and replicate in your home kitchen.

Right now on the pie class slate the courses are focusing on seasonal ingredients like berries and, soon, peaches, as well as with getting those stunning Instagram-worthy decorated pie tops (think rosettes, lattices, cutouts, and more). Speaking of Instagram, you are encouraged to bring your own camera to the class so you can document your delicious results.

The classes are conversational, active, and engaging; Parsons will help you perfect your techniques and she creates a comfy learning environment that is pleasant for both pie-making pros and newbies alike.

Naturally if you are making pie you are baking pie, and that means students leave with their pie in one of The Pie Hole's witty boxes ("You wanna piece of me?" is printed on the side, and, duh, the answer is YES). Bonus, your car will smell delicious for days thanks to the powerful fresh-baked pie aroma.

Now, the thing about these awesome pie classes is they do tend to fill up fast-- you know, like your tummy when you have that necessary second slice. But what's awesome about the Pie Hole is that they can also work with you to create a private pie class, perfect for anything from team-building to birthdays and bridal or baby showers.

Info on upcoming classes and registration is available on The Pie Hole's site.
