New plant-based pizzeria nears completion in old Don't Argue spot on Main

Time to get fired up, pizza fans

Plans for a new pizza joint to open in place of Don't Argue Pizzeria on Main Street are still in progress. Pizzeria Grano is nearing completion and looks poised to launch - with a recent drive-by revealing signage is up at the restaurant.

Don't Argue shuttered in August 2019 after a five-year run. With the pizza parlour's closure came word that there would be hot pies at the address to come, just under new hands - the space was taken over by the team at Vancouver's popular Via Tevere.

Via Tevere is a Victoria Drive and food truck staple of the past several years, known for its Napoletana-style pizzas and cozy restaurant atmosphere.

For Pizzeria Grano, however, they are switching things up a bit, departing from what their predecessor did and, to some degree, what they are known for at Via Tevere. Pizzeria Grano is going to offer Napoletana-style pizza, but it's going to be plant-based, and it's coming out of a new wood-fired oven.

Looks like Pizzeria Grano (which is not the rebirth of a now-defunct Burnaby spot with a similar name) has been able to take over the old Don't Argue social media accounts, sliding their fresh logo and some info and pics in; they're @granoyvr on Instagram. There they've teased a shot of a classic Marina Neapolitan pizza - but with the hashtag #thatsnotcheese.

Stay tuned to find out when they are open, and what service will look like. As many others launching right now during COVID-19, Grano may opt to get going with takeout and delivery only.

Pizzeria Grano is located at 3420 Main Street in Vancouver
