One of Vancouver's most popular donut destinations has shuttered one of its three locations permanently.

Cartems Donuts announced Sunday night that it was closing the doors for good at its Kitsilano location.

The shop at 3040 W Broadway, the chain's third brick-and-mortar, had been listed for sale for some time.

"We want to thank our Kitsilano community for all of your support over the years. We have loved getting to know you and having the opportunity to be a place for you to meet with friends and family, to study or to enjoy a quiet moment. We will miss this community very much," Cartems states on its Instagram closure notice.

Cartems launched in the 1600-square-foot new build space back in the summer of 2016. The plan was to create a community atmosphere with lots of special events.

The Kitsilano location no longer appears on the Cartems website, however, the gourmet donut shop still has its original location on Pender Street in Downtown Vancouver and its second shop on Main Street in Mount Pleasant. Cartems also has donuts available on Skip The Dishes and FromTo.

Known for its lineup of cake, yeast, and cream-filled (aka "stuffie") donuts in classic and creative flavours, as well as its many vegan offerings, Cartems is among the leaders of the pack when it comes to delectable doughnuts in Vancouver.

This month, Cartems marked its ninth anniversary in business.
