Vancouver brewery releases 'Green Screen IPA' for sneaky video call drinkers

Frickin' genius

Vancouver's R&B Brewing has released what they're calling "an unprecedented beer for unprecedented times."

Their new Green Screen IPA is a fun take on zoom fatigue; it can be made virtually invisible while you participate in them, for a sort-of sneaky drink.

The beer comes in a nearly-all-green tall can, with instructions on one side on how to make it invisible during video calls.

Drinkers are instructed to take a screengrab of themselves in their video conference software, then use that image as their virtual background. The result is that the green screen technology makes the can disappear.

We tested it in Google Meet and it is as advertised; stealthy! And delicious.

The design was produced by local agency St. Bernadine Mission Communications out of Chinatown, and the cans are available at select locations in Vancouver, including their location at 54 E. 4th Ave.
