A new rice wine bar and shop has just soft-launched in Vancouver's Chinatown.

For the last 17 years, Lee Bros Winery Inc. has been making Makgeolli, Korean rice wine, locally in Metro Vancouver.

Until now, fans of the milky alcoholic beverage have been able to pick up bottles of their favourite flavours (such as strawberry, citrus, hazelnut, or even grape) at the winery's shop out in Surrey, but Vancouverites hoping to imbibe without the commute were thrilled to learn that the winery was opening a new bar and wine shop in Downtown Vancouver.

It was announced on Instagram this week that Vanmak Downtown would be soft launching in Chinatown, across the street from International Village (82 Keefer Pl), on the heels of a rebrand.

Vanmak Downtown soft-opened Friday (April 21) with takeout only between 3 and 9 p.m. which will continue all weekend.

No word yet on when the wine bar will fully open for sit-down business. Follow @van_makgeolli for updates.
