Korean restaurant expands to Vancouver with second location

A new spot for all kinds of casual Korean eats in a colourful atmosphere is about to open

Sooda Korean BBQ Restaurant has been welcoming guests in Burnaby since 2017 and now they've got a sibling operation in Vancouver that's poised to open.

Called Sooda Kitchen & Bar, the sophomore effort will open its doors for a soft launch on Saturday, Dec. 10, according to the restaurant's social media.

The new Sooda is located at 60 W Cordova St in Gastown. That's the former home of Frying Pan, the fried chicken sandwich food truck that recently relocated its brick-and-mortar ops to the West End.

Sooda is known for its eclectic menu of Korean fare and colourful aesthetic, inspired by comic books and street art. They're known for their hot plate combos and "Mega Box" sushi-style rolls - extra long rolls made with torched steak and cheese, for example. Sooda also has Korean fried chicken, soups and stews, BBQ, and an array of sides and share plates, like loaded fries, seafood pancake, and corn cheese - all popular casual Korean dishes.

However, for its Vancouver debut, the Sooda crew does promise a "new mood and new menus," exclusive to the Gastown location.
