Fans of Tacofino know you can always count on getting their signature fried fish taco at any of their Vancouver and Vancouver Island locations, but the ever-expanding chain always endeavours to offer something a little different with each new outpost.

Now Tacofino is opening the doors to their newest location, this one on Vancouver's west side in Kitsilano. Opening day is scheduled for Tues. Oct. 8.

This is the regional chain's seventh brick-and-mortar location, and it's housed in a 1,985-square-foot below-ground space right on 4th Avenue in the busy Kits neighbourhood.

There's seating for 40 and a takeout counter, too. Tacofino Kits will indeed be slinging burritos and tacos, from a menu developed by Chef and Co-Owner Jason Sussman and Michelin-starred Regional Executive Chef Stefan Hartmann.

In Kits, you can tuck into loaded burritos filled with Maui Pork al Pastor, Thai-inspired Crispy Chicken; Crispy Tofu; Corn Fritter; Bean + Cheese; or a Japanese-influenced Albacore Tuna.

From the taco column you can choose from their calling card Pacific cod, Potato + Cheese, Crispy Tofu (a vegan option), Tuna, Crispy Chicken; and the Maui Pork al Pastor.

Also on the menu is a house salad (to which you can add crispy chicken or tofu to really make a meal of it), beef taquitos, and nachos. Their 3-6 p.m. Happy Hour will feature even more items, like Pork Ribs, Bean and Cheese Empanadas, Pacific Cod Croquetas, Crispy Chicken Drumsticks, and more.

For beverages, they've got bottled imported beers, local craft brews on tap, wine, and a robust list of house cocktails, including a variety of margaritas and pitchers of sangria to sip on. If you're not imbibing, they're pouring Culture Craft Kombucha and house made ginger beer, as well as bottle Jarritos Mexican sodas.

Tacofino Kits' interior was designed by Shiloh Sukkau, who has been on board for Tacofino’s Gastown Taco Bar, Yaletown Burrito Bar, Downtown Oasis and Mount Pleasant Ocho locations. Expect a room that echoes the chain's Tofino roots and Baja coastal vibes, with a contemporary-rustic feel.

Tacofino Kitsilano is situated at 1909 West 4th Avenue in Vancouver. They will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
