I was shopping at the IGA by my house last night and couldn't resist the Whitecaps logo on this new energy drink I spotted. Granted, I am a sucker for all things caffeine but the nostalgia of the official drink of the Whitecaps from the 80's, Super Socco (which I previously reported on) took over and I had to get it to see if this new official drink could live up to the memories I have of the old one.
Noticeable differences are that a) the Whitecaps' new official drink doesn't come in a juicebox and b) it's got tasty organic blue agavae syrup and organic guarana in it as well as ginkgo and B vitamins as opposed to Super Socco's water, refined sugar and artificial flavor that I so fell in love with.
My personal verdict is that the Whitecaps' drink has grown up and so have the Super Socco fans of yesterdecade, and if you like natural energy drinks like Guru or Steaz that don't have refined sugars or taurine in them then you'll probably enjoy Organic Energy Max as much as I do. You can get it at Whole Foods, Buy Low and Marketplace IGA in Vancouver.
