Green tea and Instagram-worthy eats are a matcha made in heaven, for sure. That's why foodies in Metro Vancouver have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Tsujiri, a Japanese matcha maniac's dream shop, since the summer of 2017.

Set to go into the steadily expanding Central at Garden City off Alderbridge Way in Richmond, Tsujiri first teased local green tea lovers' tastebuds last July when word got out the treats and eats spot would be opening up their first Western Canadian location.

Tsujiri has been around for over 150 years, and is known for their top-of-the-line finely ground matcha powder, used in an array of stunning foods, from sundaes to noodle bowls to beverages galore, shaved ice, and pastries.

Plans for Tsujiri in Richmond initially were to have the outpost focus on the brand's emphasis on the notion of harmony between the traditional and the modern.

It's possible, then, that we could see some of the wildly inventive green tea-infused dishes that are being served at Tsujiri's recently opened second Toronto-area location (like matcha soba noodles, souffle pancakes, and even a vegetarian poké bowl). Tsujiri hasn't been saying much about the Richmond location, except that after a year's wait (and an initial planned October 2017 opening) that they would be here this summer. You'll see lots of those exciting dishes, however, on the brand-new @tsujiri_vancouver Instagram account.

In the meantime, Tsujiri has just opened what is actually their first Western Canadian location--in Edmonton.

Stay tuned!

Tsujiri will be located at Central at Garden City (McClelland Road between Alexandra Road and Alderbridge Way) in Richmond.
