Two new restaurants are opening soon just steps away from each other and the Vancouver Harbour.
Flagship destinations for Social Corner Restaurant and Ciclo Cafe and Cocktail Bar will open side-by-side on Sept. 3, according to the Per Se Hospitality Group, which owns both. The two will be located on West Cordova Street across the road from the Fairmont Pacific Rim and a block away from the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Social Corner nearly open
The Per Se Social Corner will be taking over the space left by Chewies in Coal Harbour in the spring of 2023. Before Chewies closed, Per Se released its plan to take over the space.
“We know we have something special with Per Se Social Corner and we are excited to bring this latest version of Per Se, one of many we have planned for Canada, to Coal Harbour later this year,” said Fabrizio Foz, owner and operator of the Social Corner Group, in an April 24, 2023, media release.
However, the space has remained dormant ever since.
In a statement released July 21, 2025, an opening date and images from inside were released.
"The space is anchored by Canada’s largest gold-plated Neapolitan pizza oven, flanked by two expansive patios, and adorned with nine hand-sculpted Roman statues crafted by a local Italian artist," reads the recent release.
This will be the second Per Se Social Corner; the first, in Yaletown, is a Michelin-recommended restaurant at 891 Homer St. It specializes in an Italian and Spanish-focused menu.
The new one will be similar. The 290-seat space will feature a 120-seat year-round patio, a custom-built limestone fountain (weighing seven tonnes), and four big fireplaces.
The menu won't be exactly the same, featuring a more seafood-focused selection with oysters, caviar, seafood towers, and pescado frito.
A new Ciclo
Just across the square in the neighbouring building on Cordova, another Per Se brand is taking over.
"The new Coal Harbour Ciclo marks a significant evolution for the brand, introducing a full cocktail program for the very first time," reads the recent press release.
Inspired by a 17th-century tavern in Seville, Spain, the new coffee shop and cocktail bar will offer pastries in the morning and small plates at night. There will also be gelato from Gelato by James.
It, too, was originally announced in 2023.
"With these new flagship locations, Per Se Hospitality deepens its presence in Vancouver, shaping spaces where food, design, and culture naturally come together," reads the recent release.
The new restaurants' addresses are 1020 W Cordova St. for Ciclo and 1055 W Hastings St. for Social Corner Coal Harbour (though the entrance is off Cordova).
