"The end of an era," says one mourner.

The Yaletown Distillery bar and restaurant has closed up shop for good. The venue shut down suddenly at the end of 2022.

In a brief Instagram post at the end of last year, The Yaletown Distillery Bar & Kitchen announced it was "ceasing activities permanently."

The bar, restaurant, and distillery, which had been operating for almost 10 years at 1131 Mainland St gave no explanation as to why it was closing but apologized for the news and thanked its patrons for their business.

Yaletown Distillery's closure is just another in a long list of food businesses Vancouver lost in 2022, with many of the closures attributed to financial hardship.

The eatery's website is now offline and they have not posted any further updates. Fans of the restaurant were left upset in the comment section of the Instagram post, like one patron who stated: "This was our favourite place. So sad to hear."

Many Yaletown locals are sad to see the neighbourhood institution go, saying, "aw man, another heartbreaking loss for the neighbourhood," and "it’s the end of an era."
