Mello is known for its filled, fluffy brioche donuts. Launched in Chinatown, the donut shop has now opened its second location, this time in Kerrisdale.

If you know, you know: Mello is home to some of the city's most treasured baked goods. The Chinatown bakeshop often sells out daily of its fluffy and filled brioche donuts.

Now, however, there are two places in town to get your hands on Mello's much-loved donuts.

Mello has opened up a second location across town in Kerrisdale at 4635 Arbutus St. The popular donut shop occupies a former Starbucks.

Fans of Mello's donuts lit up the business' Instagram post announcing the new location - think tons of heart, fire, and hand-clapping emojis and plenty of OMGs - voicing excitement at the news.

"The creation of Mello Arbutus was a long and hard journey, but we made it and we are so happy with what we’ve created," said the owners on social media of the shop's soft launch.

"We are so thankful for all the love and support from our customers. We are also extremely grateful for such [a] warm and friendly welcome from the Kerrisdale neighbourhood!"

The Arbutus outpost of Mello is in its "soft opening" phase, which allows the staff the chance to work out any issues. To that end, the shop is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is not accepting pre-orders (which are available at Mello's Chinatown location).

Mello first welcomed customers into its small, minimalist Chinatown cafe at the end of 2019. Their soft, decadent donuts come in a variety of flavour options, with fillings like lemon curd, tiramisu, cereal milk, and strawberries and cream. Inside there is some cafe-style seating, though many opt to simply load up a bakery box with treats to go.
