After nearly four years, Vancouver ice cream parlour Buckets will be closing permanently in May

Ice cream lovers are going to have to get through the sunniest months of the year without the Buckets ice cream shop. The Main Street ice cream parlour has revealed they will be closing their doors permanently in mid-May.

"This past year has encouraged us to take a pause and reassess our business operations," writes Buckets on their website.

"We've made the difficult decision to close our storefront."

Launched in 2017, the family-run Buckets stood out from the pack thanks to their use of liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream.

The trio behind Buckets came by their love of ice cream - which they say they used to share in buckets - pretty naturally: their parents owned a Dairy Queen.

Using high-quality ingredients and flavours meant to evoke nostalgia, Buckets makes made-to-order cups and cones, as well as offers ice cream in pints jars, and treats like pies, cakes, and ice cream sandwiches.

Buckets' last day of operation will be May 13. The shop is located at 3330 Main Street in Vancouver.
