The massive Nordstrom anniversary sale is a great place to pick up accessories and beauty goodies

It starts on July 15 but people can start making their wishlists now.

Okay, I am going to start with a massive caveat and that is, after comparing the Canadian sale with the American one, we got shafted.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale runs from July 15 through July 31 in-stores and online for select fall items and then prices return to normal on Aug. 1. Nordy Club Ambassadors are given early access on July 14.

Clothing for women, men, and children is on sale, including shoes, accessories, and activewear as well as beauty and home goods. Some beauty brands have 'exclusives' in the form of bundles that give you more bang for your buck and are a great way to try a brand that's been on your list without paying full price.

I was most excited by the tease that Nordstrom Canada would be introducing Cult Gaia, one of my all-time most coveted brands and also that pieces would be featured in the sale. Sadly, we only get two pairs of shoes and they're on the plain side for Cult Gaia standards. The other letdown is the Supergoop brand is in the American sale but isn't carried in Canadian stores.

That said, there are still some good deals to be found, especially in the beauty and accessories department. Here are our top picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale preview:

Jewellery

Kurt Geiger London

Kurt Geiger London is the rockstar of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year. So many of the brand's edgy high-fashion-looking designs are on sale for around 30 per cent off, especially the jewellery. My favourite piece is these rainbow ear crawler earrings for only $30 down from $48. There are also crystal huggy hoops and these enamel dangly hearts that give major soft girl vibes.

Nordstrom own brand

A lot of the in-house Nordstrom brand pieces are also in the sale and I think the area they shine most is in jewellery. This demi-fine set of four earrings is only $34 and would look dainty and beautiful layered on someone with multiple piercings. This single draped ear cuff with a stud earring and subtle rainbow crystal detail would also be elegant with a touch of rebellion.

Bags

Béis

The weekend travel bag from Vancouver-raised actress Shay Mitchell's company with Béis is sure to be at the top of everyone's wishlist for this sale. It's $89 down from $128 and comes in pink or green. The multi-compartment tote bag is perfect for travel and has a sleeve at the bag to slip overtop a luggage pull handle.

Kurt Geiger London

If you've ever lusted after a Gucci bag but couldn't justify the price tag, Kurt Geiger bags are a more affordable but just as much of a statement-making alternative. This one happens to be my favourite though. Alternatively, if you're more of a Chanel girlie, then this one is for you.

Beauty

PMD

These two facial gadgets will totally upgrade how you wash your face. The Classic Personal Microderm Device is like a mini pore vacuum that provides chemical-free exfoliation and was really big a few years ago; it is on sale for $139. And the vibrating silicone Clean Facial Cleansing Device is on sale for $79 and is honestly a good way to apply cleanser to feel like you're getting a deeper clean.

T3

The T3 Delux hairdryer is beautiful to look at but it's also high-tech and works like a dream. It is all the rage with TikTok girlies who don't have a Dyson Airwrap and it's on sale for $167 down from $250. This one is at the top of my wishlist.

Shoes

Circus by Sam Edelman

I am such a sucker for a white boot and if it has an interesting heel, even better. White boots add an elevated sense of fashion and style to an outfit, not to mention they say a lot about someone who dares to live a life where they're not worried about their shoes getting marked up — that takes a special kind of confidence. This Layla 2 Bootie is on sale for $120.

Vince Camuto

This look is similar to the one above, but instead of an ankle boot, it's knee-high. The Tressara Pointed Toe Knee High Boot is more expensive (coming in at $250) but it's real leather and the triangular heel is stunning.

Steve Madden

At first, I saw this shoe in black and thought pass but then I saw it in pink and suddenly it had my attention. Suddenly, it's a whole new shoe. This chunky patent leather Mary Jane pump is not for the faint of heart but it makes a meal out of an otherwise basic outfit. If you have the courage to wear a shoe this bright I highly encourage you to pick this baby up.

Clothing

Spanx

The clothing selection of the sale is really where I am most disappointed. Nothing really jumps out as a must-have except for the Spanx faux leather leggings. These pants may not look like much but they are a staple in my fall wardrobe and I will be snatching up a pair for $84 down from $128. They are a great base for an outfit.

Good American

I hate the word 'flattering' but I don't think there's a better way to describe these jeans. They range from size 00 to 22 and look amazing on every body type. The high waist, straight leg, and raw hem make them casual but I would style them with a pair of heels to elevate the look and make the bum pop.

Billabong

Don't ask me why but I love these vintage-looking oversized Billabong graphic T-Shirts. I think they would look effortlessly cool styled in lots of different ways like with leather skirts or plain jeans and a wide-brimmed hat. I also think that for $33 (down from $54) they are probably cheaper than the real collectible vintage shirts you find at the trendy thrift stores on Commerical Drive and Main Street.
