Did you know Vancouver could look like this? 🌸👏🏼 Before you all freak out, yes this a photo from last year, and no, I don’t have some magical Insta-crystal ball that will tell me when they’re coming in 2019. Instead, I’ll do things the Christina way and bombard you with random fun facts about why Vancouver can look like this: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣ Yes, Vancouver has an aggressive amount of gorgeous cherry trees! There are over 40,000 of these bad boys scattered around town 2️⃣ This cherry blossom hysteria started in the early 30s, when Vancouver was gifted 500 Japanese cherry trees from the mayors of Kobe and Yokohama. They planted them in Stanley Park in honour of Japanese-Canadians who served in WWI 3️⃣ People (naturally) went beserk when they saw these cotton candy nature clouds each Spring, so the city started planting more and more 4️⃣ In the 50s, they realized that recklessly planting these pretty pink things was kind of a bad idea, and had to start removing/replacing ones that were in the way of things like utility wires (oops). Nonetheless they were reluctant to give up the pretty pink things so they opted instead to plant different types and sizes to prevent further issues 5️⃣ Vancouver continues to plant these epic pink fluffery-dos in high profile areas around town, even today! Much to the delight, hysteria and ugly sobbing of the city’s Instagrammers 🌸🌸🌸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do you think? Not too shabby right? #Vancouver
