7-year-old boy in critical condition after being hit by car in Coquitlam

A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition after a he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Coquitlam Thursday evening. 

The incident occurred at around 6 p.m., April 30, at the intersection of Parkway Boulevard and Forestridge Place, a residential area in Coquitlam’s Westwood Plateau neighbourhood. 

In a written statement from Coquitlam RCMP watch commander Staff Sgt. Paul Vadik, the boy was rushed to hospital following the crash where he remains in critical condition. 

The driver involved in the incident remained on scene to cooperate with police, and both drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as a factor in the accident. 

Two specialized police units arrived at the scene to investigate the collision and collect evidence. The intersection remains closed until they finish their work.
