Vancouver Police arrested four individuals after they executed a high-risk search warrant for firearms offences on Wednesday afternoon at a south Vancouver home.
“We had a very visible presences in the Sunset neighbourhood yesterday evening in relation to this warrant,” says Sergeant Aaron Roed, Spokesperson for the VPD. “We want to thank the public for their patience, as police worked on gathering evidence throughout the evening.”
In a release, VPD state that the VPD’s Emergency Response and Major Crime Sections executed the warrant around 3 p.m. near East 41st Avenue and St. Georges Street. To protect the safety of police officers and citizens, police used multiple police resources including the armoured rescue vehicle.
VPD state that three of the individuals were arrested and released. However, one man is still in custody for an unrelated federal warrant.
Since the investigation is still ongoing, there is no further information available at this time.
VPD officers believe there is no public safety threat related to this incident.
On Wednesday, Vancouver Police reported that a suspect was in custody after they allegedly assaulted two people in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, April 21 around 7 p.m. The emergency was located near East Broadway and St. George Street, but Roed tells Vancouver Is Awesome in an email that these two incidents are completely unrelated.
