Vancouver strip club says current closure is for 'renovations'

Rumours are spreading online that something more than renovations are going down at the adults-only venue

While rumours are spreading online that one of Vancouver's few remaining strip clubs, Brandi's Show Lounge, is closing, it's not clear what is happening with the downtown adults-only venue.

Signs on the door of Brandi's seen on Thursday, April 27 state that the club is closed "this evening for renovations." The sign, however, does not indicate a date for the closure or a timeline for the renovations. Social media speculation puts the current closure as starting on Sunday (April 23).

The club's website still exists, but it is unclear if it's being updated. The only events listed are recurring party nights.

Social media for the strip club connected to the site appears to be scrubbed from the internet. The Instagram and Facebook account links are both dead. A Twitter account is still connected but seems to have been forgotten and unused for several years.

A sign on the door notes the connected business of The Swedish Touch is still open.

V.I.A. has reached out, but no one answered the phone or our emails yet.

A security guard posted outside of the club at 595 Hornby St confirmed the closure was due to renovations but declined to speak further on the matter.

In 2020, Brandi's was among the businesses in Vancouver forced to close due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed province-wide. Soon after re-opening in mid-June that year, the strip club had to shutter temporarily after Vancouver Coastal Health flagged the venue for being the site of potential COVID-19 exposure.
