The BC SPCA is raising funds for an adorable feline family that was rescued from a hoarding situation where their needs were not being met.

On an emergency fund page, the SPCA notes that the mother cat, Arwen, and her kittens, Frodo, Sam, Freda, Pippin, Rosie and Bilbo, have a shocking number of ear mites.

"It is such a severe case of ear mites that they will require medicated cleanings multiple times a day to help them heal. (You could say it looks as though this Fellowship has been to Mordor and back!)," reads the page.  "The whole family has been tested for parasites because of how poor their living conditions were. Thankfully, the tests came back negative."

Once the kittens are old enough, they will be spayed or neutered before finding their new furever homes. In addition, Momma Arwen still needs regular health checks before she has her own spay surgery.

"Arwen is the sweetest cat and such a wonderful momma to her babies! She did such a good job protecting them in their previous home."

Personal updates for Arwen and her kittens will be provided to anyone who donates to their campaign.

The goal of $2,580 includes surgery, medication, treatment, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Arwen and her kittens until they are ready for adoption. If their medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in their names, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
