Dash cam videos could help ID Vancouver restaurant armed robbery suspects

VPD: "We believe there are people who may unknowingly have dash-cam video of the suspects fleeing the area."

Vancouver police investigating the armed robbery of Cafe du Soleil hope members of the public have footage of the suspects as they fled the area.

The incident happened Sunday, Nov. 20, when two men, armed with guns, held up the popular restaurant during brunch service in a "takeover-style robbery," state the VPD.

Police say the men then fled the area down Commercial Drive south to East 1st Avenue where they turned east and continued to Boundary Road and Burnaby.

“We’ve made significant progress in this case since Sunday, and we believe there are people who may unknowingly have dash-cam video of the suspects fleeing the area,” says Sgt. Steve Addison in a press release. “That video may contain important evidence that could help us identify the suspects and lead to an arrest.”

They're looking for footage from Commercial Drive (between Charles and Kitchener streets) from 9 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. and from East 1st Avenue between Cotton Drive and Boundary Road from 11:10 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. are asked to contact investigators.

Police can be reached at 1-604-717-2541.
