Ferris Bueller's Day Off stars pop up at Vancouver Canadians game

They're shooting a new film together in Vancouver

It looks like Cameron Frye is finally no longer grounded by his dad.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, Ferris Bueller's Day Off stars Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck appeared at a Vancouver Canadians game together, even going so far as to conduct the crowd in songs and singing along with "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

Perhaps spurred on by the famous fans, the Canadians ended up winning the baseball game 5-4 against the Tri-City Dust Devils.

Ruck and Broderick are currently working together in a new film, which is also about best friends. Called The Best is Yet To Comeit's based on a French film about two friends (with different personalities) going on a road trip after a misunderstanding. Vancouver is listed as one of the filming locations on IMDB.

The pair originally starred together as high school friends who go on a road trip together (with Bueller's girlfriend to Chicago). Ferris Bueller's Day Off helped launch their careers, with Broderick (who already had a Tony award) going on to act in many Broadway productions, voicing Simba in The Lion King, and starring in everything from Glory to Godzilla.

Along with the Jon Hughes comedy, Ruck has been in Twister, Spin City, and, more recently, Succession.

While the Canadians made one post about the pair on social media, Ruck and Broderick can also be seen in the background of several other clips because of where they were sitting, including the walk-off home run by Sean Keys (they can be seen just above the bat, including Broderick's reaction to the home run).
