Thousands of flights were cancelled over Labour Day long weekend after Hurricane Dorian struck the Bahamas leaving mass destruction in its wake.
The Government of Canada has updated the travel advisory that it issued for the United States due to Hurricane Dorian, stating that travellers should avoid all travel, "to the U.S. east coast, from north of Deerfield Beach in Florida to the South Santee River in South Carolina."
The National Hurricane Centre tweeted that the, "combined wind, surge, and floods hazards are the same or even worse since the hurricane has become larger."

Air Canada has issued a statement regarding the tropical storm on its website, noting that travellers may make voluntary changes to their itineraries. For select dates to the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, the airline notes that guests may contact Air Canada Reservations to change their flights free of charge, "to another date between now and September 7, 2019, subject to availability in the cabin you originally purchased."
Similarly, guests who purchased select dates tickets to the Florida, Georgia, guests may contact Air Canada Reservations to change their flights free of charge, "to another date between now and September 14, 2019, subject to availability in the cabin you originally purchased."
WestJet stated that as of Sept. 1, it won't take anymore guests to or from Fort Lauderdale until it is safe to resume flying. Further, guests who are affected will be, "contacted with rebooking options when it is safe to do so, post hurricane."

As the hurricane develops, the U.S. National Hurricane Centre will continue to issue alerts and warnings for the potentially affected areas.
