Here's everything you need to know about Creed's 'Summer of '99' tour stop in Vancouver

It's taking over Rogers Arena on Aug. 16

Creed is headlining the "Summer of '99" tour coming to Vancouver.

Rogers Arena is about to welcome Creed with arms wide open, in hopes the American rock band will take audience members (figuratively) higher this weekend.

The post-grunge band is on its Summer of '99 tour, celebrating the late 90s and early 2000s explosion of heavy pop rock that made Creed one of the biggest bands in North America for a few years.

They haven't found those levels of success on the charts since, and took a hiatus for a decade.

In the spring of 2024, Creed regrouped and headlined the Summer of '99 cruise, which featured several bands that were big in 1999. That ultimately inspired this concert tour. Many dates of the tour also feature 3 Doors Down and Daughtry, but not those in Vancouver.

Vancouver gets two opening bands: Canadian rockers Big Wreck and Mammoth (fronted by Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang).

Big Wreck is known for hits like "That Song" and "The Oaf (My Luck Is Wasted)" while lead singer Ian Thornley fronted Thornley, which had success with the single "So Far So Good." They've announced an upcoming studio album coming in October.

The show is expected to start at 7 p.m.

Tickets: What's still available?

The concert has mostly sold out, though there are quite a few in the lower bowl, behind the stage. These seats have no view of the stage, and the tickets are marked as "listening only." They're running $52.40 each.

There are still a handful of other tickets available on the floor and in the pit. Those are running $240 (for floor seats) and $315 (for a spot in the pit). Resale tickets are scattered throughout the arena, though they can be pricey. The cheapest upper bowl tickets with an unobscured view are running for between $100 and $110.

Transportation on concert night

TransLink doesn't have any significant alerts issued for the SkyTrain or SeaBus on Saturday at the time of publishing.

Hullo does have a late-night sailing leaving at 11:59 p.m. from Vancouver Harbour, but it has already sold out (there's also a BC Lions game the same night).

Restrictions

A few things aren't allowed in Rogers Arena for the show. Notably, some bags won't be permitted; all bags need to be under 35.5 cm by 35.5 cm by 15.2 cm. For reference, 35.5 cm is just a bit over 13 inches.

Rogers Arena is also a smoke-free zone, as far as cigarettes and cannabis are concerned. The band may have smoke machines.

Other common-sense items, like skateboards, selfie sticks and outside food and drinks, should be left at home.

Cashless venue

Rogers Arena is a cashless venue.

"Concession, retail stands, and hospitality will exclusively accept contactless forms of payment," states the venue's website.

Fan service

Rogers Arena has a fan service number to text if there are any issues during the show: 604-765-3267.

Concert-goers can text their issue and their location (their section, row, and seat number) and get help.
