Here’s why you might see people dressed as eyeballs on Vancouver transit this weekend

Metro Vancouver locals might spot two eye-catching giant eyeballs on board the SkyTrain and at Waterfront Station in April, 2023.

Metro Vancouver locals may spot a wandering eye or two on their transit commute.

While commuters have seen a number of performances en route, from a wholesome karaoke SeaBus session to a DJ spinning tunes on the SkyTrain, the latest gig may make some folks do a double take.

Two actors dressed as huge eyeballs will be performing a roving act at Waterfront Station and on board the SkyTrain Friday, Saturday, and next week.

Unlike musical performances, a roving act involves actors actively engaging with the audience throughout the entire performance. However, since the characters are eyeballs and have no mouth, the actors will be doing so without talking.

The act, which is part of TransLink's music and performance series called Art Moves, is meant to bring vibrancy and joy to transit.

The artists behind the eyeballs are Kat Single-Dain and Michael Undem who are long-time members of The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret, a local non-profit society known for its annual Parade of Lost Souls

Here is where you can see the roaming eyeballs:

  • April 22, 7-9 p.m. onboard the SkyTrain Expo Line headed eastbound from Waterfront Station to King George Station
  • April 28, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Waterfront Station
