Grandview Highway between Nanaimo and Slocan Street is expected to be closed for most of the morning due to an accident involving two motor vehicles.
The crash ocurred at around 6 a.m. and sent seven people to hospital, two with serious injuries.
It appears a grey Ford Focus and a black Mercedes SUV collided head-on just over the centre line of the four-lane highway, Const. Jason Doucette said in a press release. Three occupants of the Ford and four from the Mercedes were taken to hospital with a variety of injuries. At least two people are in serious condition.
Grandview Highway between Nanaimo and Slocan is closed in both directions following a serious collision. It's expected to stay closed throughout the morning.

The department’s collision investigation unit is on scene and the road is expected to remain closed until later this morning.
Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone who may have seen what happened is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
