Health Alert: Vegan pierogis recalled due to 'undeclared milk'

Are you plant-based or allergic to dairy? Be sure not to eat these.

A recall has been issued for one flavour of pierogies made by a Metro Vancouver company.

Vegan cheddar pierogies from Langley's Nina's Pierogies may have undeclared milk in them, according to a food recall warning from Health Canada.

"The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace because it may contain milk which is not declared on the label," states the recall.

The specific product affected is the vegan cheddar pierogies sold in 450 g bags with the UPC 6 27987 06562 6 and code 16 06-23 7156.

"The recalled product has been sold in British Colombia and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories," states Health Canada.

The federal agency notes the recall was issued after a consumer complaint; there's been one reaction after someone ate some of the affected product. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is following up.

The recall recommends people allergic to milk check to see if they have any of the pierogies that are part of the recall and not consume them. People can either throw them out or try returning them to the location purchased.
