Help this Vancouver photographer find the students in these decades-old forgotten photos

'The photos themselves are snapshots of someone's memory, even just a small one'

A Vancouver photographer has enlisted the help of the internet to identify people who have been hidden in film for over a decade.

It started when a photography hobbyist named Chris bought a medium format film camera off Craigslist, took it home and discovered an undeveloped roll of film still inside. Chris told Vancouver Is Awesome the camera’s seller had mentioned the camera hadn’t been used in several years at least, making the newly discovered film a never seen before time capsule. Once the photos were developed Chris wanted to know more.

“I think it'd be a shame for these photos to not reach the people involved,” Chris said. “The photos themselves are snapshots of someone's memory, even just a small one.”

He posted his puzzle to Reddit where commenters pointed out things in the photos that indicate they could have been taken in the 1990s or early 2000s. The best example of this being a T-shirt with “New York” printed above a cityscape of downtown Manhattan in which the Twin Towers are still standing.

Commenters have also narrowed down the possible location to an elementary school in North Vancouver.
