Dark music and related genres like goth and post-punk will take centre stage next month at the inaugural Glōm Fest.
The touring festival is bringing the underground genre to four cities on North America's West Coast this year, with a final stop in Vancouver on Sept. 20.
"Glōm Fest is a platform dedicated to elevating underground dark and post-punk musicians to new audiences," reads a press release from organizers of the festival. "The festival is committed to bridging geographical and cultural gaps, providing a meaningful space for rising stars in the scene, and introducing fans to the next generation of their favourite bands."
Five different bands are part of the tour, each from a different country: South Africa's The Awakening, The Cemetary Girlz from Paris, Germany's Aeon Sable, Dark Chisme from Seattle, and the Royal Ritual (which is currently based in the UK).
This will be headliners The Awakening's first time in North America in nearly a decade.
American post-punk trip Urban Heat will be making a special appearance at the Vancouver show.
"Vancouver, this isn’t just a show. It’s your dark altar for the night," reads an Instagram post by the festival.
