A Vancouver man spends a great deal of his time doing repairs on high-rise buildings, which affords him some of the best views in the city.

But his job is not for the faint of heart.

In a jaw-dropping photograph, Chris Barber straddles the pointed rooftop of a building soaring several storeys high. He sports a bright yellow coat and safety gear and faces out toward the sprawling metropolis, which includes many other tall buildings.

Barber tells Vancouver Is Awesome that he's lived in the city for about 30 years and the picture is about five years old, but it's one of his favourites. He does building repairs, including caulking and glazing, and his duties often provide him with some rare photo opportunities.

The perspective he shared is from a high-rise building located at Davie and Howe streets. And despite the soaring height, Barber notes that he wasn't really afraid.

"I use proper safety gear so [I was] not really afraid," he explains. "I like that I get views few others get to see."

In order to snap the incredible view, the Vancouverite had to "inchworm" his way out to the edge; he was out there for about an hour before he continued over the edge.

"Basically I'm setting up some rope [so] I can repel over the edge in this picture," he describes.

How would he describe the feeling of being high above the city streets?

"It's a rush."
