Vancouver will be the pilot city for a new program from REEF Technology.

REEF Technology will select at least five Vancouver restaurants to be part of its NBRHD Restaurant Development Program, which includes a $12,500 grant.

The company, which is based in Miami, has developed the program in the U.S., launching it in their hometown and Chicago. Vancouver will be the first Canadian city in which they launch NBRHD.

Restaurants can apply now to be a part of the program, which includes the aforementioned $12,500. There's also a marketing campaign they value at $12,500, a partnership in REEF's NBRHD Kitchen's platform and professional food photography.

REEF is working with the BC Restaurant and Foodservice Association and local food blogger Joyce Lam of @VanFoodies to select from the applicants. They'll be looking at "culinary concept, potential for success on delivery platforms, community following and personal story" according to a press release.

In total, the company is putting $1.25 million in the program for restaurants across North America, though Vancouver restaurants are the only ones that can apply right now.

Currently, REEF is running more than 100 neighbourhood kitchens in more than 20 cities in North America. In Vancouver, they'll be hiring kitchen workers as well.
