A block of Broadway will be one-way alternating directions overnights for a month.

Drivers traveling through the city late at night may want to avoid West Broadway between Oak and Laurel streets until the beginning of May.

The block of Broadway will be reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic for several hours each night for the next month, with short closures once an hour.

As part of the Broadway subway project the roadway will see delays between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting Monday, April 4.

The road will be reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic starting at 11 p.m. In addition to that, at midnight each night closures can be expected once an hour as a crane is moved. They'll last an estimated 10 minutes each time says the Broadway subway project team in a press release.

"The traffic changes are to accommodate the installation of the traffic deck on W. Broadway between Oak and Laurel streets," they state.

At 5 a.m. traffic will be restored to four lanes.
