BC Corrections is warning the public that a high-risk violent sex offender who poses a risk to young boys plans to live in Metro Vancouver.
Shaun Joshua Deacon has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1988 that includes convictions for sexual offences; he poses a significant risk of re-offending against male children under the age of 16.
Deacon, 57, is considered a "high-risk violent sex offender" and BC Corrections has issued a public notification regarding his release. He plans to reside in Metro Vancouver.
BC Corrections did not disclose in what city he plans to reside.
Deacon is Caucasian and is six feet tall, weighs 284 pounds, and has grey hair and hazel eyes.
He is subject to electronic supervision and close monitoring by authorities and must not carry weapons or knives (except for eating). He must not possess any electronics that can access the internet or store data and he must not contact anyone under the age of 16.
Deacon is also forbidden from attending schools, daycare centres, swimming pools, playgrounds, parks, or recreational centres where young people under 16 might visit. Additionally, he must not seek employment at places where he would be in a position of authority over people under the age of 16.
