When is a biking and walking path more than a route through the city?
When it's a canvas for community art.
The Arbutus Greenway is now more like the Arbutus Blue-and-Yellow-way for a section of the popular path that runs alongside the Cypress Community Garden in Kitsilano.
Over the weekend, a team of volunteers led by Indu Shaji and Nishi Praveen Kumar painted the paved section, covering it in blue and yellow, along with colourful flowers, butterflies, and more.
More than 40 people took part in the project, according to a press release, painting the area on July 19 and 20, 2025. Funding for the project came from the city's placemaking program.
It's planned to be unveiled the evening of Monday, July 21, (after the paint has dried).
