Poll: How do Vancouverites expect the Canucks to do this season?

It's not looking very positive

Belief is suddenly much more common with Canucks fans.

After what can safely be described as a disappointing season in 2024-25 (especially given the prior season) the Vancouver Canucks are preparing for a new season.

And, according to a new Vancouver is Awesome poll, Canucks fans are preparing for another lacklustre seven months of hockey.

When asked what expectations they had for the city's biggest team, fans aimed low.

The leading opinion (40 per cent) is that they'll make the playoffs, just barely. Given that half the league makes it to the playoffs, that's not a lofty goal.

And the next two most popular opinions are even less positive, with just under 50 per cent figuring the team won't make the playoffs. Of those, 17 per cent predict the Canucks will be looking at drafting first in 2026.

There are some dreamers in the Canucks camp, though their numbers are low. Just over 8 per cent think they'll be at the top of the Pacific division, while just under 4 per cent are hopeful they'll lead the league.

Compared to last year at the same time, the outlook for 25-26 is dimmer. About the same number figured they were playoff-bound, but a lot more were hopeful for a great season.

Vancouver Is Awesome polled 896 readers and asked the question: How do you think the Vancouver Canucks will do this year?

The poll ran from 8/17/2025 to 8/31/2025. Of the 896 votes, we can determine that 347 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Presidents' Trophy winner or close 3.17% local, 3.91% total
At the top of their division 8.36% local, 8.48% total
Not amazing, but playoff-bound 38.90% local, 40.18% total
Just falling short of the playoffs 32.28% local, 30.25% total
Bad (aka in the hunt for the #1 draft pick) 17.29% local, 17.19% total
  Local   Total
