Robbery charge against Surrey man stayed

Count stemmed from incident at downtown hotel
scales-of-justice

A man from Surrey no longer stands accused of holding up a Prince George hotel.

A count of robbery, as well as a count of breaching a release order, that Jonathon Scott Jacobs had been facing were stayed Wednesday during a hearing in Prince George provincial court.

Jacobs been facing the counts from a March 22, 2022 arrest when RCMP were called to a report of a man demanding money from the staff at a downtown hotel and threatening to harm them, before fleeing from the hotel on foot.

Details on why the counts were stayed were not immediately available, however, stays of proceedings are typically issued due to a lack of evidence strong enough for criminal conviction.

Scott was in custody for 30 days following his arrest.
